In waters deep or shallow

I pray to keep rekindling this truth

To live today and give to You tomorrow

On my own I would drown in a puddle of doubt and sorrow

But with You, my God of all things possible

We can walk on water

You can float — And you can fly

And even walk if the ground is dry

Your very presence offers me

Reminders of endless possibilities

The colors in the sky are too many to name and varied beyond belief

We try to memorize or duplicate to rekindle for relief

You leave us with indelible impressions everywhere

Water is Your mirror providing for our pleasure and our needs

You are water, You are light, You are the air we breathe

Without any part of all of You nothing could survive

But mere existence is not Your aim

We are made for Your delight, and to delight in You

To love when days are dark or light

To trust that once and for all

You are for one … and for all

With eyes fixed on Your magnificence

Our hearts burst forth with what becomes uncontainable and clear

That the breath of our lifeblood is in our acts of love and care

And to acknowledge that You are with us at all times and everywhere

Let me mark this day as one of reckoning

Where again I turn my heart and all to God

The only One who knew who would be next to come into the Kingdom

And yes although it’s hard to believe 

A Forgiveness, and a mercy, and a grace so great 

That somehow even the perpetrator has a place 

Oh God please help me here to love with your love of this sordid human race

To each his and her own separate, together with, distinct and so defined, in rhythm with the moment … the moment that is now

I pray your faith to rise in me as a relentless mounting tide And Your Love and Grace to continually wash over me That I might forever be, a part of all that is Thee

The Root of an All Saints Day

 

Oh, did I succumb to sorrow swallowed by the years

Released by one suggestion

Remembering those now gone

Thank You God for this one great consolation

That where they are, we too, one day will be

Restored, reclaimed, by grace and love, at last, forevermore

Love can never be kept down for long

Like water seeking relief

She will find her way 

And one day soon 

All will be as it once was meant to be

This morning while considering my long to-do list I wanted to take a short-cut, but after thinking it through, I realized it would be the opposite of what I desire for my life – and would only serve to cut the good of my life short — Then as I looked upon the sun streaked floor, I saw a hair floating downward through the air –

 

I saw a strand of hair today

Falling to the floor

Reminding me oh Lord

Of You, who knows of each and every part

 

As a loving mother who first counts ten fingers and ten toes

Your word declares You care and count

Each and every strand of hair

 

So how could I, knowing this is true

Think that I am not enough

To please You, and succeed

Beyond imagining what is possible with Thee

My heart, it races to meet you Its voice a pounding pulse Ill equipped are mortal’s feet, bound by gravity Like running in a dream they cannot keep the pace Of a heart anticipating the inexplicable wonder of Your embrace db
